Con un fantástico sprint final, la norteamericana Gwen Jorgensen se quedó con el tercer lugar y la medalla de bronce en la Copa Mundial de Triatlón Indoor Lievin. La competencia fue con el formato súper sprint, los triatletas deben completar ciento cincuenta metros de natación, tres kilómetros de ciclismo y un kilómetro de carrera a pie.

Gwen Jorgensen, ganadora de los Juegos Olímpicos de Rio de Janeiro 2016 y bicampeona del mundo, finalizó la prueba en un tiempo de diez minutos y diecinueve segundos, la misma marca que la ganadora Laura Lindemann de Alemania y Georgia Taylor-Brown de Gran Bretaña que se ubicó en segundo lugar. La diferencia fue literalmente por milésimas de segundos.

Con este resultado, la triatleta de Estados Unidos vuelve a dejar una marca en la historia del triatlón internacional tras conseguir una medalla en lo que fue la primera Copa del Mundo bajo techo.

La Copa del Mundo de Triatlón Indoor en Lievin ofreció un espectáculo difícil de olvidar, con casi 3.000 espectadores animando en las gradas, entusiasmados con el formato que debuta en el circuito de la Copa del Mundo. Doce atletas se alinean en cada carrera -seis eliminatorias para los hombres, cuatro para las mujeres- seguido de tres semifinales por cada género y luego la final B y la final A-. A una natación de 150 m (6 largos de piscina con dos atletas por carril) le sigue una carrera de 15 vueltas y 3 km en bicicleta y luego una carrera pedestre de 5 vueltas y 1 km, con eliminatorias y repechaje para decidir a los 36 atletas en tres semifinales. Finales por género, los cuatro primeros de cada semifinal avanzan a la final y los cuatro siguientes en la línea de meta de cada semifinal a una final B.

GWEN JORGENSEN WON THE BRONZE MEDAL AT THE LIEVIN INDOOR

With a fantastic final sprint, North American Gwen Jorgensen took third place and the bronze medal at the Lievin Indoor Triathlon World Cup. The competition was in the super sprint format, triathletes must complete one hundred and fifty meters of swimming, three kilometers of cycling and one kilometer of running.

Gwen Jorgensen, winner of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games and two-time world champion, finished the test in a time of ten minutes and nineteen seconds, the same mark as the winner Laura Lindemann of Germany and Georgia Taylor-Brown of Great Britain who he placed second. The difference was literally by thousandths of seconds.

With this result, the triathlete from the United States once again leaves a mark in the history of international triathlon after winning a medal in what was the first indoor World Cup.

The Indoor Triathlon World Cup in Lievin offered a spectacle that is difficult to forget, with almost 3,000 spectators cheering in the stands, excited about the format that debuts on the World Cup circuit.
