Americas Triathlon

El pasado domingo 25 de febrero, se llevó a cabo la Copa Continental de Triatlón en La Habana, Cuba. Los grandes campeones de la jornada el día de ayer fueron Gwen Jorgensen de Estados Unidos y James Edgar de Irlanda. La VIII edición del Triatlón de La Habana tuvo gran concurrencia tras contar con la presencia de aproximadamente 300 competidores de 16 países distintos.

La norteamericana Gwen Jorgensen, campeona olímpica de Río de Janeiro 2016, se quedó con la medalla de oro en la categoría femenina de la Copa Continental de Triatlón La Habana 2024. Jorgensen llegó primera a la línea de meta a los 01:59:42 de carrera y con este tiempo se quedó con la punta del podio. En segundo lugar se ubicó la polaca Roksana Slupek con un tiempo de 01:59:53 y la tercera posición, con un tiempo de 02:00:14 fue lograda por Ana Maria Torres de México. 

Con respecto a la división Elite Men, el ganador fue el irlandés James Edgar. Tras conseguir finalizar la prueba en un tiempo de 01:44:39, Edgar se quedó con el título de campeón. El podio masculino lo completaron Darr Smith de Estados Unidos con una marca de 01:44:45 y Michal Oliwa de Polonia con un tiempo de 01:44:52.

Durante toda la jornada se vivió una gran fiesta deportiva, con la presencia de muchos triatletas de distintas partes del mundo. De esta manera se cierra la Americas Triathlon Cup La Habana 2024.

Last Sunday, February 25, the Continental Triathlon Cup was held in Havana, Cuba. The grand champions of the day yesterday were Gwen Jorgensen from the United States and James Edgar from Ireland. The VIII edition of the Havana Triathlon had a great turnout after having the presence of approximately 300 competitors from 16 different countries.

The North American Gwen Jorgensen, Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic champion, won the gold medal in the women's category of the Havana 2024 Continental Triathlon Cup. Jorgensen reached the finish line first at 01:59:42 race and with this time he was left with the top of the podium. In second place was the Polish Roksana Slupek with a time of 01:59:53 and the third position, with a time of 02:00:14 was achieved by Ana Maria Torres from Mexico.

Regarding the Elite Men division, the winner was the Irishman James Edgar. After managing to finish the test in a time of 01:44:39, Edgar took the title of champion. The men's podium was completed by Darr Smith of the United States with a time of 01:44:45 and Michal Oliwa of Poland with a time of 01:44:52.

Throughout the day there was a great sports festival, with the presence of many triathletes from different parts of the world. In this way, the 2024 Americas Triathlon Cup La Habana closes.
