The female junior athletes got the 2019 ITU Grand Finals Lausanne underway on Friday morning, and it was a huge performance from Italy’s Beatrice Mallozzi to bring home a World title to go with May’s European victory in Weert.

The Olympic City began to warm up in more ways than one as the Junior men took to the pontoon on the edge of Lake Geneva for Friday’s 2019 World Championships, and it would be Portugal’s Ricardo Batista who took the honours thanks to a lightening-fast run, holding off the challenge of Lorcan Redmond (AUS) in second, Spain’s Sergio Baxter Cabrera finishing with the bronze.

2019 Karlovy Vary Men Highlights
Sam Dickinson managed to find the legs over the final 2km to pull away from Raphael Montoya and produce a hard-earned gold, the Frenchman in second ahead of Dickinson’s GB teammate Grant Sheldon, back on the podium for the first time since 2013.

2019 Karlovy Vary Women Highlights
Home favourite Vendula Frintova recovered brilliantly from a tricky second swim lap to take Sunday’s Karlovy Vary World Cup gold for the second year running, pipping USA’s Tamara Gorman to the tape. Frintova had hung on the American’s shoulder from the first steps of the hot 10km run, eventually passing her down the home straight, Germany’s Caroline Pohl landing a first podium in third.

2019 Edmonton Mixed Relay Highlights
With a team with the four members under 23 years old, Team New Zealand deliver a fantastic race in Edmonton to claim their first ever victory in the World Triathlon Mixed Relay Series, putting the kiwis in an excellent position to be considered among the ones to watch in the Olympic debut of the thrilling event, in Tokyo 2020. Ainsley Thorpe, Tayler Reid, Nicole Van der Kaay and Hayden Wilde deliver a consistent race beginning to end, to finish ahead of Team Great Britain and Team USA.

2019 WTS Edmonton Men Highlights
Saturday in Edmonton proved to be redemption day for one of the legends of the sport: Jonathan Brownlee (GBR).
After quite a disappointing season with three WTS appearances and none of them finishing is positions that he is used to, the double Olympic medallist showed up in Edmonton ready to prove that he is still one of the favourites every time he lines up in the start of a race. And this time, the younger Brownlee delivered. Along with him on the podium were Mario Mola (ESP), back in form and ready to keep the fight for the World Title open, and Marten Van Riel (BEL), stepping on the WTS podium for the first time in his career.

2019 WTS Edmonton Women Highlights
She hadn’t been in a WTS podium since 2014, but in the last few months Australian Emma Jackson had been showing that she was back on form and ready to move one step forward. The brand new course of the 2019 ITU World Triathlon Edmonton proved to be the perfect scenario for her come-back, nailing a perfect race to claim her first ever WTS victory of her career. Behind her in the finish line were USA’s Summer Rappaport and another Australian, Asleigh Gentle.

The packed grandstands witnessed two sprint finishes for the ages in Tiszaujvaros on Sunday afternoon, as first the women’s and then the men’s World Cup races boiled down to flat-out charges from some of the best in the business over the final 200 metres.
In the men’s race, Eli Hemming (USA) emerged on top from a pack of strong runners, flying through the final 100m to grab gold moments ahead of Ryan Fisher (AUS) and Wian Sullwald (RSA).

In the women's final, it was Emma Jeffcoat (AUS) who hung tough as Sara Vilic (AUT), Kelly-Anne Perkins (AUS) and Miriam Casillas Garcia (ESP) kicked, only for the Australian to motor through the middle of them all and take the tape.

ITU World Triathlon Leeds Women’s Highlights (RUS)
The Leeds crowds were never off their feet on Sunday afternoon as they cheered home the latest graduate of Great British triathlon’s talent school, Georgia Taylor Brown. The 25-year-old delivered a sparkling debut WTS gold, clearly inspired once more by the surroundings as she played her hand early in the run and never looked back, going one better than last year’s silver with a mature, assured display.

On a cool Summer ‘s Sunday afternoon in Yorkshire, Jake Birtwhistle became the first Australian since Brad Kahlefeldt to win a top-tier gold on the ITU circuit, nailing another incredible run to sweep past Spain’s Javier Gomez Noya and USA’s Matthew McElroy. The 24-year-old re-wrote the script as hometown heroes Johnny and Alistair Brownlee struggled to capitalise on strong positions during the bike segment, Mario Mola failed to close down a 60-second gap out of second transition and Vincent Luis had to out-sprint Marten Van Riel and Pierre Le Corre to claim a hard-earned sixth.
