Wreckhouse Entertainment Duathlon Season Opener a Success!

By World Triathlon Admin | 10 Jun, 2006

Steady Brook, NL – On Saturday, June 10th, 56 athletes gathered in Steady Brook to kick off a summer of great multi sport events. The Wreckhouse Duathlon Season Opener allowed local athletes to dust of their bikes, dig out their running shoes, and have a great morning of fun and exercise.

This event is always a fun, non-timed race for athletes of all ages, abilities, and even disciplines to participate. This was the first time a unicycle was spotted in a duathlon! In the end David Gillam was the first male competitor to cross the line, and Sarah Noble as the first female athlete to finish.

There are still more great races happening throughout the summer! Stay tuned for TRI-FEST 2006 from July 21-30, which will host the 25th Corner Brook Triathlon, a 9th consecutive ITU Triathlon World Cup, and the 2006 Duathlon World Championships.
