The host hotel, Henry Morgan Resort, has partnered with tour operators in order to provide a very competitive travel package to our athletes coming from Europe or Canada.

Charter from Milan-Maplpenza departs on Sundays, and total price including all-inclusive accommodation for one week, flight, race fee, and airport transportation in Roatan is about EU 1200.

Charter from Toronto, Canada departs on Fridays.

Welcome POWERADE as our new title sponsor for 2008
The Bay Islands LOC is proud to welcome POWERADE as new title sponsor for this year’s event. The LOC is excited about this new partnership and are confident that their support will allow for a very successful event.  POWERADE is also the sponsor of our two new events, a Kid’s Beach Race, and the Family 5km Fun Run/Walk.

Course Information
The swim start is located directly in front of The Henry Morgan Hotel on beautiful West Bay beach. It will be a non-wetsuit swim as the average water temperature for the Bay Islands is approximately 29°C (84°F).

Swim course is a triangle, with longest leg parallel to the beach. West Bay is a protected body of water enclosed by a coral reef. Direction of swim will be determined on race day according to prevalent currents. NOTE: In normal conditions, there is a negligible current, and almost no wave action.

Water is crystal clear with sandy bottom over Coral Gardens in mostly shallow waters. The swim’s start position on the beach will be marked clearly. Boats and kayaks will be assisting swimmers.

The bike course departs from the transition area placed within the grounds of The Henry Morgan Resort. The total course is paved but roads can be somewhat narrow and exceptionally steep in many areas.

The first 5km consists of a series of steep and twisting curves so please exercise extreme caution!  The end of the 5km point marks the beginning of the “15 Km Loop”. Olympic distance participants will do this loop TWICE. This spot is well marked, and consists of rolling hills. The turn-around is also marked by a Fire Department Truck which blocks the entire road.  There will be a water bottle exchange station at the turn around point of the bike loop.
The run will be on of paved private roads and off road trails, with the finish line on the beach in front of The Henry Morgan Hotel. You will run on packed white sand for approximately 1Km only towards the completion of your race.

The run leaves T2 on paved road, and turns right towards the western-most tip of the island, known as the Light House, with views of the ocean. Shortly after you reach a shaded dirt trail, you will notice the beginning of the “Loop”. Volunteers will prompt you to continue on the loop, for your first go-around, or to exit towards the beach after you have done the loop TWICE. Sprinters do the loop only ONCE.
