USA Triathlon Announces 2011 Election Results

USA Triathlon Nominating and Governance Committee Chair Brian Harrington has announced that the organisation’s annual elections were completed, and four members of the USA Triathlon Board of Directors will begin four-year terms in 2012.

Current Board President and Mid-Atlantic Region Representative Bob Wendling (Springfield, Va.) was re-elected, and Jack Weiss (Euless, Texas), who last served on the board in 2006, returns to represent the South Midwest Region. Joining the board for the first time are Northeast Region Representative Kevin Sullivan (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Midwest/Rocky Mountain/Pacific Northwest Region Representative Barry Siff (Boulder, Colo.).

Additionally, Steve Sexton (Pilot Hill, Calif.) was re-elected to the Board of Directors as an Elite/Pro Athlete Representative, and two seats on the Athlete Advisory Council were filled by current Council Chair Barrett Brandon (Fort Worth, Texas) and Zachary Britton (Washington, D.C.). These three athletes will each serve a two-year term beginning in January.

Nine of the 10 USA Triathlon regions also elected a number of members to their respective regional councils. For a complete listing of the 2011 USA Triathlon Election winners, click here.

Elections were held from August 1 to October 1 with USA Triathlon annual members voting for representatives from their respective region. Elite athletes selected both the Elite Athlete Representatives and the Athlete Advisory Council position.
