Mexicans defend their home in the American Triathlon Championship

The city of Monterrey, Mexico, vibrated for three days at the American Triathlon Championships.

More than 200 triathletes from around the Continent gathered in the event this weekend in Mexico, one of the most important Triathlon events in America. The American Triathlon Championships, brought together junior athletes, U23, elite, age groups and paratriathletes to compete.

Mexicans won on the elite category and U 23; Canada did on the junior relay and the United States in the Individual Junior test both men and women.

The first test was the mixed relay juveniles, where Canada won the gold medal, USA the silver and Mexico won the bronze medal .

On the elite category, Mexicans dominated the race. Gold and silver medals stayed at home. Cesar Saracho won the gold medal by 1 second over Irving Perez both from Mexico and one second after that Hunter Kemper from USA.

In ladies Cecilia Perez won the race. Second was the Ecuadorian Elizabeth Bravo and Kaitlin Donner from USA was third.

In Junior category Mens, Austin Hindman from USA won the gold medal. Brazilian Kaue Willy was second and Mexican Diego Lopez was third.

In Junior category womens, Taylor Knibb from USA was the champion, followed by Adriana Carreño from Mexico and Canadian Emily Wagner.

In the Under 23 category, Cesar Saracho of Mexico won the gold medal. Rodolphe Von Berg came in second, while Ricardo Vega from Mexico won the bronze medal.

In the category of ladies under 23 Paola Diaz from Mexico crossed the line in first place, followed by his companion Lizeth Rueda and Johanna Gartman from USA was third.

The next American Triathlon will be in Mexico in the Continental Cup in Ixtapa.
