Kemper Heads PATCO Champs Field

By World Triathlon Admin | 12 May, 2009

Three time Olympian, Hunter Kemper, heads the United State’s men’s squad at this weekend’s PATCO Triathlon Pan American Championships in Oklahoma, in his first race back since the Beijing Olympic Games where he finished seventh.

The USA is just one of fourteen nations represented at the championships which bring together athletes from across North, South and Central America.

Kemper last won the PATCO title in 2004, and will come up against reigning champion and compatriot Matt Chrabot and renowned cyclist Matt Reed, who took fifth at last year’s world championships.

The women’s race also looks to be an American affair with 16 of the 34 athletes bearing the USA letters on their racing kit; including Jillian Peterson who is back to defend her title. Double world under23 medallist Jasmine Oeinck will also toe the start line alongside super-swimmer Sara McLarty.

Elite racing in the junior, under23 and senior categories gets underway on the Saturday with Age Group racing on the Sunday.
