Guatemala hosted the Central American and Caribbean Junior Triathlon Championship

Guatemala hosted the Junior Central American and Caribbean Triathlon Championship under the organization of the Guatemalan National Triathlon Federation. The event took place in the Pacific Naval Command, Port of San Jose, Escuintla. 

More than 60 athletes from over 10 countries competed on the race, which gave slots to the Pan American Championship on May the 1st in Monterey, Mexico. The host country qualified 5 athletes to the Pan American appointment. Costa Rica won three slots, Panama 2, Colombia 2, El Salvador 2, and six countries more could classify at least an athlete.

In males, Panamanian Peter Vega won the race, over Colombian Hugo Ruiz by 17 seconds. Bryan Mendoza from El Salvador completed the podium in the men's race.

In women, Salvadoran Michelle Gonzales won the gold medal with a time of 1 hour 9 minutes and 27 seconds. Raquel Solis Guerrero from Costa Rica won the silver medal with a time of 01 hour, 09 minutes and 40 seconds. Michel Lopez from Guatemala was third by 4 seconds.
